08:10 AM. Arrive at Wat Phothisomphon, located in Mak Khaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. This is a royal temple of great historical significance, built during the late Rattanakosin period under the reign of King Rama V. It was established by Maha Amat Tri Phraya Si Suriyarat Woranuwat (Pho Netipho), the provincial governor of Udon Circle.
Highlights of the temple include : Phra Phuttha Ratsami: The principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, a bronze statue in the Mara Vichaya posture, approximately 600 years old. Laterite Buddha Statues: Buddha images in the posture of granting blessings from the Lopburi period, approximately 1,300 years old.

Sacred Bodhi Tree: A sacred Bodhi tree propagated from a sapling gifted by the Sri Lankan government to Thailand in 1950. Replica of the Buddha’s Footprint: Made of laterite and over 200 years old. Phra Borommathat Thamma Chedi: A three-story museum pagoda.

09:40 AM. Arrive at the Nong Khai Aquarium, a center for education and research in fisheries, focusing on the collection of fish species from the Mekong River basin. It also serves as an integrated exhibition space for aquatic species and supports the city’s role as a tourist destination.
11:10 AM. Depart from the Aquarium and head to Tha Sadet Market.

11:30 AM. Arrive at Tha Sadet Market, a hub for products from the Indochina and Eastern Europe regions. The market offers a variety of goods, including dried food, processed food, household items, electronics, clothing, watches, and kitchenware. Located along the Mekong River within Nong Khai Municipality, the area was once home to the residence of the governor of Nong Khai and was previously called “Tha Chao Mueang.” Over time, it evolved into Tha Sadet Market, which now serves as a center for products from Indochina and Eastern Europe, such as electronics, clothing, and jewelry. The riverside area features a walking street and a cycling path offering scenic views of the Mekong River. Tha Sadet Market is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

2:00 PM. Arrive at Phra That Klang Nam, also known as “Phra That La Nong” or “Phra That Klang Nam.” This ancient stupa is submerged in the Mekong River and is one of the sacred sites in the legend of the Urangkhathat, which houses relics of the Buddha. It is believed to have been built around the 20th to 22nd century BE, as it resembles the Phra That Bang Phuan stupa. Originally, the stupa was located on the riverbank at Wat Phra That Nong Khai.
2:30 PM. Depart from Phra That Klang Nam and head to Sala Kaew Ku.

2:35 PM. Arrive at Sala Kaew Ku, also known as Wat Khaek, located in the Samakkhi community, Wat That Subdistrict. The temple was built as a “Sacred Park of Faith” featuring numerous large brick sculptures, placed outdoors in an unusual array. The park was constructed based on the teachings of Luang Pu Bunleu Surirat, who believed that all religions could be harmonized together. The sculptures depict various Buddhist figures, Hindu deities, scenes from the Ramayana, and local legends. In total, there are 208 statues, and the base of each statue has inscriptions in both Thai and Isaan. These statues were built in 1978. The body of Luang Pu Bunleu is preserved on the third floor of the Sala Kaew Kuu building and is a site of reverence for local people and visitors alike.

4:35 PM. Arrive at Na Kha Fabric Market, a renowned community market in Udon Thani. It is the 212th “Must-See Community Market” in the country and the 4th in the province. Na Kha Fabric Market stands out for its unique identity, being a center for the production and sale of famous “Mhee Khit” handwoven fabrics from Udon Thani. The market showcases a local weaving tradition known as Mud Mee, which has received recognition for its contribution to local craftsmanship. The community here has earned awards for its sufficiency economy village and is part of the OTOP tourism initiative in Udon Thani. Na Kha Fabric Market gathers the weaving groups of Ban Na Kha, a long-established collective.

In this fabric market, there are many shops, especially selling silk fabrics with khit patterns. Each piece is carefully woven and has beautiful patterns. The fabric has a shiny, embossed look, which is unique to Isan fabrics. In addition to fabrics, each shop also sells shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, and scarves.
Souvenirs and many more are all handmade. In addition, the surrounding area is also a famous walking street of Udon Thani Province and is the Ban Nakha community, which is a place where silk is produced and finished silk is sewn by the villagers.
